POEM FIVE – Prashna Upanishad – The Essence of Upanishads

Prashna Upanishad

Poem five on Prashna Upanishad. I decided to explore the ten Principle Upanishads and extract the essence from them. Given that the Upanishads are themselves an extraction of the extraction of the essence of all knowledge combined…

Seekers gathered with questions deep,
Yearning for truth, in silence, they keep.
Six questions asked, with earnest hearts,
From the Rishis’ wisdom, divine sparks.

From sleep to dream, to deep slumber’s rest,
States of consciousness, a journey blessed.
The cosmic fire, the source of all,
Guiding seekers, from the great to small.

Inquiring within, the Self to know,
Beyond the body, mind’s ebb and flow.
Prashna Upanishad, wisdom profound,
Unveiling truths, eternal and profound.

This poem encapsulates the core teachings of the Prashna Upanishad, which revolves around six questions asked by the seekers to the Rishis, exploring the nature of consciousness, states of sleep and dreams, the cosmic fire, and the quest to know the Self.

*Please note that poetry is a creative expression, and this poem is a concise summary, not a literal translation of the Upanishad. For a comprehensive understanding, it’s recommended to refer to authoritative translations by qualified scholars or spiritual teachers.
