This is a story about two brothers who have been inseparable and loving since childhood. Both of them sought knowledge. The older brother was very clever, while the younger brother struggled to remember any teachings, despite being humble, obedient, and making a great effort. So the Teacher advised him, while doing his daily cleaning work, to say to himself, “Sweeping away the dust, clearing away the dirt.” After some time had passed, the younger brother understood that the dust represented the obscurations lurking within us, and through practice, we can rid ourselves of them and eliminate the veils of ignorance.
