Terms of Use
Eco-Yoga Institute ACN 677 775 245 (“we,” “us,” “our”) · Website: ecology.yoga · Last updated: August 2026
These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of ecology.yoga (the “Site”). By accessing or using the Site, you agree to be bound by them. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.
1. About the Site
The Site is an online community platform for the study and practice of traditional yoga and ecological awareness. It includes a Community Hub (forums, groups, events, member profiles and messaging), a School (online courses), an eMag (articles, podcasts and an online library), and a Shop. It is operated by Eco-Yoga Institute, based in New South Wales, Australia.
2. Accounts and Registration
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. When registering, provide accurate and current information and keep it up to date. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for everything done under your account. Tell us at admin@ecology.yoga immediately if you believe your account has been used without your authority.
One person, one account. We may suspend or close an account if we reasonably believe these Terms or the Community Rules have been breached.
3. The Community Rules Form Part of These Terms
Everything you post or send through the Site is also governed by our Community Rules, which are incorporated into these Terms by reference. The Rules set out how members treat each other, what may be posted, and how moderation works. A breach of the Community Rules is a breach of these Terms.
4. Membership Tiers
The Site offers two standings. Reader is free and requires no payment; it includes use of the community, the magazine, and the library that is open. Member is a paid recurring subscription and adds the material reserved for Members. Other roles, such as Educator, may be granted by the Site and are not available for purchase. Pricing, inclusions, and billing frequency are shown on the membership page at the time of sign-up. Paid memberships are recurring subscriptions billed through our payment processor (Stripe, including WooPayments).
You may cancel at any time in your account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep access until then. Refunds are handled in accordance with the Australian Consumer Law — see Section 10.
Our price promise. If we introduce a new price, it applies to new members. You keep the price you joined at for as long as your membership continues without interruption. Loyalty is rewarded here, not charged for. If you cancel and rejoin later, you rejoin at whatever price is current then.
In the rare event we ever do have to change the price of a membership you already hold, all of the following apply:
- We will tell you at least 30 days before the new price takes effect, by email to the address on your account.
- The new price never applies to a period you have already paid for. It takes effect from your first renewal after the notice period ends.
- You may cancel at any time before then and you will not be charged the new price — your membership simply runs out at the end of the period you have paid for.
- We will not increase the price of the same membership more than once in any twelve months.
If you do not cancel before such a change takes effect, continuing your membership is your acceptance of it.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Post or transmit anything unlawful, defamatory, threatening, harassing, abusive, hateful, obscene, or that infringes another person’s intellectual property or privacy.
- Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation, training, or qualifications.
- Post false, misleading, or deceptive information.
- Give medical advice, diagnose another member, or advise anyone to stop or alter prescribed medication or treatment.
- Send unsolicited commercial messages to other members, or use the community to advertise, recruit, or run affiliate schemes.
- Post photographs, private messages, or personal details of other people without their consent.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Site, another member’s account, or connected systems.
- Interfere with or disrupt the Site, including by transmitting malware or generating excessive traffic.
- Scrape or crawl the Site, or use automated tools to extract its content, without our prior written consent. This includes harvesting content to train machine-learning models.
- Share your login, or redistribute course material, to give access to people who have not paid for it.
- Use the Site for any purpose that breaks the law.
We are not obliged to monitor user content but may do so. We may remove content we reasonably determine breaches these Terms or the Community Rules, and may suspend or close the accounts of members who breach them.
6. Practice, Health and Safety
Read this section before you practise anything you find on the Site.
Yoga — including āsana, prāṇāyāma, kriyā, fasting and meditation — is physical and can carry risk. Everything here is delivered at a distance, with no instructor present to see you, correct you, or intervene. You accept that risk and you take responsibility for your own practice.
- Practise within your own capacity and stop if you feel sharp pain, dizziness, or distress.
- In breathing practice, the thing to guard against is forcing. Pulsing in the ears, a tightening face, or an agitated mind afterwards mean you have pushed too hard. Progress arrives; it is not taken.
- If you are pregnant, recovering from injury or surgery, or managing a cardiac, blood-pressure, ocular, neurological or psychiatric condition, obtain advice from your own qualified practitioner before beginning, and tell your instructor.
- Nothing on the Site is medical, psychological, legal, or financial advice, and nothing here is a substitute for professional care. Our courses and content are educational. Our instructors teach; they do not diagnose or treat, and they are not acting as your therapist or clinician.
- Nothing on the Site should be understood as a reason to stop or reduce any treatment you are receiving. Yoga is added to a life; it does not replace anyone’s care.
- In an emergency, contact your local emergency service. The Site is not monitored in real time and is not a crisis service.
7. Your Content
“User Content” means anything you post, upload, or make available through the Site — forum posts, group discussions, comments, course reviews, assignments, profile information, and any other contribution.
You keep ownership of your User Content. By posting it, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, display, reproduce and distribute it on and through the Site, for the purpose of operating and promoting the Site. Closing your account does not unpublish your articles. An article you have published — for the eMAG or for your own member blog — stays on the Site with your byline, and the licence above continues for as long as it remains published. To have it removed you must ask us specifically (see section 16). For the rest of your User Content — activity updates, forum replies and comments — the licence ends when you delete the content or close your account, except where others have already replied and removing it would break the thread.
You are responsible for your User Content, and you confirm that you have the rights to post it and that it infringes nobody.
8. Educator Accounts
Members holding an Educator account may publish courses and written, video and audio content through the Site’s tools. Educators are solely responsible for the accuracy and quality of what they publish, must describe their training and qualifications honestly, must keep what a student discloses to them confidential, and must observe Section 6 in everything they teach. We do not endorse Educator content and are not liable for it. Educators retain ownership of their content, subject to the licence in Section 7. We may unpublish material that breaches these Terms or the Community Rules.
9. Intellectual Property
All Site content created by us — text, graphics, logos, design elements, course material, and the overall look and feel — is owned by or licensed to Eco-Yoga Institute and protected by copyright and trademark law. “Matri,” “Eco-Yoga,” and associated logos are trademarks of Eco-Yoga Institute or its related entities. You may not copy, modify, distribute, republish, or create derivative works from our content, or use it to train machine-learning systems, without our prior written consent.
Course material is licensed to you personally for your own study. It may not be shared, resold, or reproduced for teaching without our written permission.
10. Shop, Purchases and Refunds
Products are sold through WooCommerce and paid for through Stripe. Your payment details go directly to the payment processor and are not stored by us. Descriptions, pricing and availability may change, and while we take care, we do not guarantee that all product information is free of error.
Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law are not affected by these Terms. Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. If a product or service has a major failure you are entitled to a replacement or a refund, and to compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss. If the failure is minor, we will repair or replace it within a reasonable time, or refund it.
For digital products and online courses, tell us at admin@ecology.yoga if something is faulty, not as described, or inaccessible, and we will put it right.
11. Affiliate Links
The Site contains affiliate links, including to Amazon and other retailers. ecology.yoga participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising programme that lets sites earn fees by linking to Amazon. We may earn a commission on qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you. Affiliate relationships do not influence our editorial content.
12. Third-Party Links and Services
The Site links to third-party websites and embeds third-party media. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, availability, or privacy practices. A link is not an endorsement. Your use of them is at your own risk and under their terms.
13. Availability and Changes to the Site
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Site is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components, and we make no representations about the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of any content on it, including content posted by members and Educators. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Site. Where a change materially affects a paid membership or a course you have purchased, we will tell you.
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, or remedy under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot be excluded, restricted, or modified by agreement.
14. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with your use of the Site.
- Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or in connection with these Terms or your use of the Site is limited to the greater of AUD $100 or the total fees you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
These limitations apply as far as the law allows and do not limit or exclude any liability that cannot be limited or excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
15. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify Eco-Yoga Institute and its officers, employees and agents against claims, liabilities, damages, losses and expenses (including reasonable legal costs) arising out of your use of the Site, your User Content, or your breach of these Terms.
16. Suspension and Closing Your Account
You may close your account at any time from your account settings or by writing to us. On closure, your access to member areas and to courses ends, and your personal information is handled as set out in the Privacy Policy.
Articles you have published stay published. Closing your account does not by itself remove an article you have written for the eMAG or your member blog — it remains on the Site with your byline. If you want it taken down, you need to ask us specifically: write to admin@ecology.yoga and we will remove it, apart from anything we are required to keep for legal or accounting reasons. Removal is subject to the practical limits described in the Privacy Policy — we cannot recall what search engines have already cached.
Your activity updates, forum replies and comments are treated differently: they go with the account when it closes, except where others have already replied and removing them would break the thread.
If we suspend or close your account for a breach, we will tell you why. You may ask us to review the decision by replying to that notice. Where an account is closed for a serious breach, fees already paid for the current period are not refunded, except where the Australian Consumer Law requires otherwise.
17. Copyright Complaints
If you believe material on the Site infringes your copyright, write to admin@ecology.yoga with a description of the work, identification of the infringing material, your contact details, and a statement that you hold a good-faith belief that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law. We investigate every notice and remove material where the complaint is made out.
18. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Any dispute arising under or in connection with them is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales.
19. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Updated Terms are posted here with a revised “Last updated” date. If we make material changes we will notify registered members by email. Continuing to use the Site after changes are posted is your acceptance of them.
