Description
Forty-two paintings by Nicholas Roerich, each set facing a short reflection and a practice — six weeks of mornings.
- 42 full-colour plates, one to a spread, each given its title, year and medium.
- 42 short reflections, written in the first person, one facing each painting.
- A closing prompt with every one, alternating: Sit with it, a question to carry; Take it walking, something to do with the body. Twenty-one of each.
- Built as six weeks of mornings — one painting, one page — or a single page returned to for years.
- It begins at 2:43 in the morning, on a crisis line, with the discovery that the line was there at all.
- A companion to the MYST MEGHA MYTH trilogy. You are welcome to begin here.
Roerich’s saints come from everywhere — the Orthodox hermit, the Buddhist guardian, the Himalayan mother — painted by a man who crossed Central Asia between 1925 and 1928, founded the Master Institute of United Arts in Manhattan, and is held in India as a national figure. Virtue here is not an instruction. It is what is left standing when the alarm turns out to have been a fire all along.
8.5 × 8.5 inches. 96 pages. Premium colour throughout.
For the paintings on their own, the companion volume Album — The Vision carries 126 of Roerich’s works in full colour.
